- Payment details: records of payments you make to us. We do not store full card numbers.
- Website data: technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit and how you arrived at our site, collected through cookies (see below).
Keyholders: if you give us someone else's details, please make sure they are happy for you to share them with us.
How and why we use it
UK data protection law requires a lawful reason for each use of your information. Ours are:
- Replying to your enquiry and arranging a survey: steps you ask us to take before a contract.
- Installing, servicing and repairing your system: performing our contract with you.
- Setting up alarm monitoring and keyholder contact: performing our contract with you.
- Invoicing, accounts and tax records: legal obligation.
- Service reminders for equipment we maintain: legitimate interests (keeping your system working).
- Understanding how our website is used and measuring our adverts: your consent, through cookie settings.
We do not sell your information, and we do not send marketing emails unless you have asked us to.
Who we share it with
We share your information only when needed to provide our services or meet legal requirements.
- Alarm receiving centres: if you have a monitored alarm, we pass your property, contact and keyholder details to the monitoring centre so it can respond to signals.
- Equipment manufacturers: where needed to register warranties or set up app access for your system.
- Website and IT providers: our website is hosted by Squarespace, and we use email and phone services to run the business.
- Google: if you arrive through one of our adverts, Google may receive information about your visit (see Cookies below).
- Our accountant and HMRC: for bookkeeping and tax.
- The police or other authorities: only where the law requires it.
Some of these providers may store data outside the UK. Where they do, they use legal safeguards approved under UK law, such as standard contractual clauses.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
Cookies are small files stored on your device when you visit a website.
- Essential cookies: set by Squarespace so the site works and stays secure. These do not need your consent.
- Analytics cookies: help us see which pages are visited and how people find us, so we can improve the site.
- Advertising cookies: we use Google Ads. These cookies let us measure whether someone who clicked our advert went on to call us or send an enquiry, and may be used to show you our adverts on other sites.
We only set analytics and advertising cookies if you accept them in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time through the cookie settings link on our site, or by clearing cookies in your browser. You can also manage Google ad personalisation in your Google account settings.
How long we keep it and how we protect it
We keep information only as long as we need it.
- Enquiries that do not lead to work: 12 months from your last contact.
- Customer and service records: while we look after your system, then 6 years after our last work for you.
- Invoices and accounts: 6 years, as required by HMRC.
- Keyholder details: until you change them or monitoring ends.
We protect your information with password-protected devices and accounts, and we limit access to the people who need it. Alarm codes and system passwords are never written into general records. As security engineers, we treat details about your property and its protection as confidential.
Your rights and how to complain
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
- ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete
- ask us to delete your information, where we no longer need to keep it

To use any of these rights, email info@secureeast.co.uk or call 07572 873558. We will respond within one month, and there is normally no charge.
